Transgender Equity Council (Inactive)

The Transgender Equity Council advised the City of Minneapolis and Park Board on matters of importance to transgender and gender-nonconforming residents; and provided a forum for issues of importance to the transgender community; studied issues, courses of action, policies, and programs that affect the quality of life for transgender residents and made recommendations to the City and Park Board for improvements related to these issues; served as a liaison between the Minneapolis transgender community and the City and Park Board; and made every effort to ensure that the diverse viewpoints and interests of the transgender residents of Minneapolis were reflected in the course of work.
The Board consists of 15 members: Twelve community members and staff appointed by the Mayor and City Council; one Minneapolis Park Board appointee; one Hennepin County appointee; and one Minneapolis Public Schools appointee.
Members are appointed using the City's open appointments policy.
