Ethical Practices Board
The Ethical Practices Board (EPB) promotes high ethical standards and conducts and fosters a healthy ethical culture throughout Minneapolis city government. The Board responds to allegations of improper conduct by department heads, members of appointed boards and commissions, and elected officials; recommends discipline for violations of the Ethics Code; recommends changes to the provisions or administration of the Ethics Code; issues opinions on interpretation of the Code; and submits an annual report to the Mayor and City Council detailing the Board's activities during the prior year. The City’s Ethics Officer serves as staff to the Board.

Membership Description:
No member may be a local official or city employee; the related person of a local official or city employee; a candidate for elected public office; a person who, for compensation, represents the private interests of others before the City Council or Mayor.

Members are appointed by a committee consisting of the Chief Judge of Hennepin County District Court, the Dean of the University of Minnesota Law School, and the Dean of the University of St. Thomas School of Law.
