Transgender Equity Council

The Transgender Equity Council advises the City of Minneapolis and Park Board on matters of importance to transgender and gender-nonconforming residents; and provides a forum for issues of importance to the transgender community; studies issues, courses of action, policies, and programs that affect the quality of life for transgender residents and makes recommendations to the City and Park Board for improvements related to these issues; serves as a liaison between the Minneapolis transgender community and the City and Park Board; and makes every effort to ensure that the diverse viewpoints and interests of the transgender residents of Minneapolis are reflected in the course of work.

The Board consists of:

  1. Eight community members; 6 Council appointees and 2 Mayoral appointees
  2. Four City employee appointees; 3 Council appointees and 1 Mayoral appointee
  3. One Minneapolis Park Board appointee
  4. One Hennepin County appointee
  5. One Minneapolis Public Schools appointee
