- Authorizing the following payments in conjunction with the settlement of claims asserted by Brian Smith in the litigation matter of Smith and Obiri v. City of Minneapolis: One check in the amount of $73,325 payable to Brian Smith, for which the City will issue a Form W-2; one check in the amount of $20,000 payable to Brian Smith, for which the City will issue a Form 1099-MISC; one check in the amount of $6,675 payable to Brian Smith’s attorney, Smith Law, for which the City will issue a Form 1099-MISC to each of Brian Smith and his attorney; and payment of the City’s share of Brian Smith’s health insurance premiums through July 2023, contingent upon Brian Smith first paying his share of health insurance premiums through July 2023.
- Agreeing to provide one week of paid leave to Brian Smith during the statutory rescission period and to permit Mr. Smith to use accrued sick time or vacation leave for the remaining portion of the rescission period, at his election.
- Agreeing to a partial release of claims against Brian Smith in exchange for payment by Brian Smith in the amount of $774.
- Authorizing the City Attorney’s Office to execute all documents necessary to effectuate the settlement.
