Homegrown Minneapolis Food Council

The Homegrown Minneapolis Food Council (HMFC) expands our community’s ability to grow, process, distribute, eat and compost more healthy, sustainable, locally grown foods.  HMFC strives for diverse and balanced representation and makes every effort to ensure that  concerns represented and addressed reflect the diverse viewpoints and interests of the Minneapolis community as a whole.

The Council consists of 25 members. 15 community member appointments, 6 city representatives, one Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) staff representative, one community member appointed by MPRB, one Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) staff representative, and one community member appointed by MPS.

Homegrown Minneapolis Executive Committee The work of the Homegrown Minneapolis Food Council is guided by an Executive Committee that includes the Co-chairs, three Homegrown Minneapolis Food Council members, and the Homegrown Minneapolis Coordinator. The responsibilities of the Executive Committee include working with the Homegrown Coordinator to guide the strategic direction and work of the Food Council and monitor the culture and practices of the Food Council as a community-City working model.
